Tip or SkipPrivacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Tip or Skip is made by Troy Harris ("we"). The short version: the app has no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and what you enter stays on your phone.
What stays on your phone
Bills, tips, people's names, your tip history, presets, holiday plans, the Venmo, Cash App and PayPal usernames you save, and your answers to "What did you tip?" are stored only on your device. We do not have a server that receives them, and we cannot see them.
Receipt photos
When you scan a receipt, the app uses your camera or the photo you choose. The text is read on your phone using Apple's or Google's built-in on-device text recognition. The photo is not uploaded or saved by Tip or Skip.
Purchases
If you buy Tip or Skip Pro, Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) processes the payment. We never receive your payment card details. To confirm your purchase and let you restore it on a new phone, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives your purchase history from Apple or Google and a random, anonymous app user ID. It does not receive your name or email from us. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Payment requests and pay apps
When you send a payment request, the app builds a message and opens your phone's share sheet. The message goes through the app you pick, such as Messages or WhatsApp, under that app's privacy terms. When you tap a pay app, Tip or Skip opens Venmo, Cash App or PayPal (or its website). We don't receive anything from those apps.
What we don't do
- No analytics, advertising or tracking tools are built into the app.
- We don't sell or share personal information.
- We don't use your location, contacts or microphone.
Emailing us
If you email support@tiporskip.app, we receive your email address and what you send, and use it only to reply.
This website
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages and uses no cookies or analytics. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security, as described in GitHub's privacy statement.
Children
Tip or Skip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above.
